The Importance of SPF after laser

Sun exposure is the main cause of the damage to the skin. So while it is important to use sun protection SPF after laser treatment, it is just as important to use SPF anytime you are exposed to Ultra violet rays. Especially in the summer but really all year round. PicoSure treatment, as with all lasers, the end results would also be compromised by continuing sun exposure as this is the main cause of the damage in the first place.

Recommendations to help protect your skin:

No sun exposure, tanning beds and sunless tanning cream for 4 weeks prior to treatment.

Sun exposure decreases the effectiveness of the laser treatment and can increase the

chance of Posttreatment complications.

• Use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply to the

treated area every 2 hours when exposed to the sun and it is recommended to make this a

part of your skin care routine.
